Private equity is now being used as a solution for Japanese companies in a variety of ways, including carve-outs of subsidiaries and affiliates by large corporations, succession of businesses from owners and founders, and provision of growth capital to start-ups in the construction phase.

Private Equity Performance in Japan
The Association has been working with PwC since 2018 to measure fund performance by aggregating the investment performance of private equity funds managed by the Association’s members. This performance measurement shows that, in aggregate, private equity funds in Japan have returned above the market average.
